The eyrie on the western slope is occupied again

The pair of black eagles has bred on the same cliff above the river valley for years, and this season there is a young bird in the eyrie again. Anyone standing on the slope early enough sees the adults rise on the first thermal — it takes them fewer than three wingbeats. The eyrie is not visible from the terrace, but it is from the upper walking trail.

After the rain all eight access points are holding

The source has eight access points, three of which feed the troughs. After a good month of rain all of them carry water, and you notice it at the waterhole in the evening: more game comes, and it stays longer. In dry years that shifts — everything concentrates on the three supplied points, which makes watching easier rather than harder.

The school has a roof

Construction of the school for staff and their children has reached the point where the roof is on. Until now the distance to the nearest school was the biggest everyday problem for the families on the farm. What is still missing is the interior — and someone to teach.

The old camel thorns are bearing

Camel thorn and anna trees stand in the river valley, older than any farm history here. When they bear, game gathers underneath, and you can see from a distance where something is happening. The pods interest the horses too, which is why rides need a little more attention at this time of year.
